Make sure your tyres are safe and legal this autumn
September 18, 2014

September marks the start of autumn and is a sensible time of year to inspect your tyres and check they will be safe this coming winter when motoring conditions can be very hazardous, whether you are driving over slippery, rain-soaked fallen leaves, water-logged roads or blankets of ice and snow.

After the hot dry weather we’ve had this summer you might not have noticed one or more of your tyres needs replacing. Don’t leave it until a wet or icy road lets you know your tyres don’t have enough tread to grip the road properly, check your tread depths in advance and be safe. If you are unsure how to measure your tyre tread click here to watch our video which features Vicki Butler Henderson demonstrating how to check your tyre treads.

By planning in advance you can browse our wide range of tyres – including winter tyres – and pick the brand that best matches your motoring requirements and your budget.

The same goes for punctures – if you have to keep pumping a tyre up, that’s a sure sign of a puncture and you risk damaging the tyre beyond repair if you drive on it with low or zero pressure. etyres Preston come to you to carry out your puncture repair, which means you don’t have to risk causing more damage to your tyre or wheel, by driving on it when it is flat. Our puncture repair service can also save you a lot of money, because it means you don’t have to pay out for a brand new replacement. All puncture repairs carried out by etyres Preston are in compliance with the British Standard (BSAU159).

If you are not sure whether your puncture can be fixed, download our free repairable area tread gauge, print it out and follow the simple instructions to help you find out.
