Caravan tyres

Before the start of the holiday season every caravan, trailer or a motorhome owner should make sure that they are ready for it.  Out of all different things that should be checked if your caravan is ready for another journey and possibly one of the most important one is condition of the tyres. This time of year our Maidstone branch is fitting as usual a lot of tyres for caravan owners visiting at their homes, caravan camp sites, storages and clubs. We are happy to give a friendly advice about the caravan tyres as only that round rubber holds them safely on the road. If your tyre has any defects, cracks or simply is worn this may lead not only to higher fuel consumption or poor handling and breaking but can have a serious impact on how the vehicle behaves on the road or even result in a blow out on the road.

The things to check:

-tyre pressure and the valve –make sure that there is no leaks through valve and the dust cap is properly on

-look for any winter damage like bald patches, cracks on the side walls and in between the tread

- tread depth – make sure your tyre have at least 1.6 mm of tread  depth which is a legal requirement .
