Spend 5 minutes checking your tyres, the spare as well. Firstly have a look at the tread. You need 1.6mm of tread over 75% of the tyre measured from the centre of the tyre. A 20p coin is useful for this – just insert it into the tread and if you can see the edge of the coin the tread is too low. Check the tyre pressures, you can find this info inside the drivers door, inside the fuel filler cap or in the drivers handbook. Correctly inflated tyres are not only safer but they will last longer and save you money on fuel consumption in the long run. Lastly check the general condition of the tyres, look for any lumps, bumps, tears or anything embedded in the tyre.
Have a safe trip.
If you have one of these handy little coins you can check your tyres for tread depth and therefore safety. The legal limit for tread is 1.6mm over 75% of the treaded area measure from the centre of the tyre. Simply insert the coin into the tread in several areas ( towards both edges and the centre) and if you cannot see the outer band of the coin you are ok. If you can see it then it’s time for some new tyres. Here at etyres we can source any brand or model of tyre you need, and best of all we come to you to fit the tyres, be it at home or work, saving you time and fuel.
