If you are not sure what the advantages of having winter tyres are you might want to watch our video which shows you the benefits.
There are a lot of misconceptions about winter tyres, the main one being that they are only necessary when roads are covered with snow and ice, which is not true.
Winter tyres are actually very beneficial in a wide range of weather conditions, including heavy rain and when the temperature drops below 7°C (which even during milder months can happen first thing in the morning and late at night).
When temperatures drop below 7°C the tread compound in ‘normal’ tyres begins to harden, changing their performance and reducing road safety.
However, winter tyres have a higher content of natural rubber in their tread compound and advanced silica compounds, which means they are able to provide better grip, shorter stopping distances and offer improved safety overall.
If you are thinking about fitting winter tyres and would like some guidance, give etyres a call for some impartial advice.
