Etyres are now the official fitting partner of a revolutionary new wheel protection system called ‘Alloygators’. Alloygators are a discreet band that fits around the circumference of the wheel and not only do they protect wheels from further damage they also cover up existing kerbing marks around the rim. No one wants to start their summer holiday spending time in the layby of a motorway either changing a tyre or having the police point out an illegal tyre.
Your tyres must legally have a minimum of 1.6mm tread but please remember to take in to account tread wear during your time away, you should never set out on a long journey if you are near to this level. It is also important to check your tyre walls for bulges or gouges as these could cause blow-outs when you’re driving.
Lastly, check your car manual to ensure that tyres are inflated to the correct pressure. Incorrectly inflated tyres cause uneven wear and cracking to the tyre, most car manufacturers will recommend higher air pressure if you’re carrying a heavy load, remember to check your spare as well!
