Lorna – tyres Didcot, writes: We’ve just had the first glimpse of summer with a few gloriously sunny days, so now is the time to start thinking about getting your car into shape to enjoy safer, cheaper and greener motoring during the holiday season.
Air Pressure – ideally you should check it once a month – preferably when the tyres are cold, so within a couple of miles of starting your journey. Make sure your car tyres are inflated to the level recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
Condition of your tyres – give them a visual inspection for signs of damage, like cuts and bulges, which could lead to a slow puncture or even a blow out at speed. Remove any stones that have become embedded in the rubber.
Tyre Tread – make sure the tread on your tyres is well within the legal limit of 1.6mm. You can do this by inserting a 20p coin into the groove at various points around the tyre. If the outer band of the coin is visible when inserted, then the tyre may not have sufficient depth and will probably need to be replaced.
And remember if you need new tyres, etyres operates a free mobile fitting service and our prices are up to 40% cheaper than the leading high street depots.
