Waiting around ! Nothing better to do ?.

October 2, 2012

Do you know how much it’s costing you queuing up every month ?.

Well, the Daily telegraph have done a survey just to see how much time you spend in a queue every month, You will be astounded, what’s more, if your on £10.00 per hour and you spend 5 hours a month queuing that’s £50.00 out of your pocket. Read the results here

Did You Know !!!

Stopping distances in the wet is associated to the depth of tyre tread. With 3mm of tread on your tyres and your average family car the stopping distance was measured at 44 metres extra in the wet, that’s about the same distance from the goal keeper to the half way line. See the survey done by Auto express. If you read it all you will see that the tyres are from 3mm down to 1.8mm that’s just 1.2mm of extra tread on your tyres

My tyre is worn partly on one side, does it need replacing ?

The required minimum legal limit is 1.6mm across three quarters of the tread, so this tyre would need replacing to comply with U.K. law. It’s also worth remembering that their is a considerable amount of loss of grip from 3mm down to 1.5mm The tyre would also need replacing if it has any bulges in the sidewall, if the tyre has extensive cracking on the side walls (usually due to age, but can also occur with regular under inflation)

If you have any doubts, just call us, it’s free remember, so is any advice.

Caravan Tyres

Do you know that caravan tyres will deteriorate with age, this happens to all tyres, it’s just that car tyres tend to use up the tread before the rubber starts to age, unlike a caravan tyre which the caravan association advise replacing them every 5 to 7 years or when you can see dry cracks forming around the tyre. if your not sure call us for a free advice.

Need same day repair from etyres

Need your tyre(s) replaced or a puncture repaired the same day?  Just call your local branch direct on 01332 960060 as soon as possible and subject to availability, we will get your new tyres fitted or puncture repaired the same day.

If you place your order on line, the tyres will normally be fitted the following day, just enter the date you wish to have your tyres fitted in the booking form.  You will then receive a confirmation e-mail of your order. We will then phone you the evening before to confirm your booking and even give you a two hour time slot. It really is that simple!

Checking your Tyres

Your first priority is to check the tread depth of all four tyres – you can do this by inserting a 20p coin into the main grooves of the tyre. If the outer band of the coin is visible, then you may not have enough tread to keep you safe on the road.
Tyres with insufficient tread suffer with longer stopping distances, reduced grip and an increased risk of aquaplaning.
Secondly, make sure your tyres are properly inflated and finally, give them a thorough inspection for signs of bulges, cuts and lumps, which may also require the tyre to be repaired or replaced.

And remember, we are the tyre experts who come to you, so you can simply order your tyres and then we will come and fit them at a time and location of your choice.
