eTyres Come To You For Free

May 21, 2012

More and more mobile services are being sought, due to people being tied up at work because of demanding schedules. Also People value their personal/free time as though they were being paid. i.e. to leave even your home to get something done in their “spare time” would effectively cost them £10.00, £15.00 £20.00 per hour. You only need to see the surge in demand for mobile services like – Chips away, Auto Valet Direct, Car/Fleet Van Servicing, Alloy Wheel Refurbishment. All of these companies offer to work around your schedule, giving you your life back by freeing you up, enabling you can carry on with the more meaningful things with your spare time.

Tyre tread depth is important to help disperse water and reduce aquaplaning

Many people have been caught out on this after checking their tyres and assuming that because they are within the minimum legal depth, that the tyre will perform equally as well as a tyre with 5mm tread depth. However this is not the case, you can see by clicking the ROSPA tyre tests in the wet. As you will see a tyre with just 5mm tread will stop you nearly 10 metres shorter in the wet, or nearly 33 feet, or to give you a better idea about the length of a standard double decker bus. That’s the potential difference of an expensive bump, and sorting your details out in the rain. Or a relaxing hot coffee greeting you when you arrive at work.  So please be aware when driving in the wet, stay further behind, allow extra time for travelling.

eTyres Ashbourne Simple Tyre Tread Check

Not sure if your tyres need replacing. You can easily check your tread depth using just a 20p piece just click here to see a short video about how simple it is to make sure your tyres are safe and legal, then just close the new window to return back here and complete your order.

Looking to save money ?

Are you looking to save money?  Tyre pressures have a great impact on both fuel consumption and tyre wear.  Road safety charity IAM claims that a reduction of 20% in tyre pressure could cause a reduction in tyre wear by up to 30% and the additional drag factor will cause higher fuel consumption. When your tyres are worn, how is your spare? If the worn tyres still have tread on them could one of the tyres become your spare. So getting the most out of your spare, Most of the spare tyres will be fitted to a steel wheel but this can easily be transferred to an alloy for a small fee, certainly a lot less than purchasing a new tyre.

eTyres Customer Care

All the wheels that we fit tyres to are electronically balanced, all the wheel bolts are torqued to the manufacturer’s settings, all alloys are treated with copper grease to aid removal in the future. Now there aren’t many places where you get that level of service and at a competitive price.

Why You Should Torque All Wheel Nuts

Every vehicle has factory recommended torque settings, these vary from around 75nm upto 200nm for larger vehicles. If the nuts are over tightened (and many are) this will stretch and weaken the thread and bolt shaft. More often though is If you have a locking key for your alloy wheels, these are much more likely to break when attempting to undo over tightened wheel nuts, due to their design.

That’s why here at eTyres, we show you the torque setting for your vehicle and you watch us set them correctly.

Why not call us to arrange a tyre replacement and experience our best class customer care.

Are your caravan tyres ready for the summer?

April 23, 2012

Etyres can source all makes of light commercial caravan tyres, Remember the Caravan Club recommends you change your tyres every 5 years as even though there will be plenty of tread left the rubber will be starting to perish and will have lost much of it’s flexibility and strength.

Know Your Tyre Size

Understanding Tyre Sidewall Information
235 – means the tyre has a nominal section width of 235 mm
45 – sidewall height is 45% of tyre nominal section width
R – means radial construction – nearly all existing tyres should have this on.

17 – means it fits a 17″ diameter wheel

91 – shows the load capacity

V – means it’s rated for a maximum sustained speed for 10 minutes, before the tyre could sustain damage. V – 149mph (240km/h)

Tyre Tip

If you have problems reading of the nearside (kerbside) tyre, see if the offside tyre writing is clearer. This is often the case as the sidewalls of the nearside tyre rub against the kerbstone when pulling up and parking. But please be carefull of traffic if you can’t put your vehicle on a driveway or somewhere safe though.

Look out for the ‘E’ mark on the sidewall of the tyre which proves that it meets European standards for quality and safety (all new tyres must legally have the ‘E’).
