More about Belgrave Leicestershire
Belgrave is an area in northern Leicester, England.
The old Belgrave Village is on the Loughborough Road, to
the west of the A46, known at that point as 'Melton
Road'.
The term was used for the large 19th century terraced
developments along the A46 (Belgrave Road and then
Melton Road). This area now has a large, vibrant Asian
community featuring the Golden Mile: a string of
specialist Asian stores reputed to sell more gold than
any singular region in Britain. It is bounded to the
south by Leicester City Centre, to the west by the River
Soar and to the east by the Midland Main Line.
The Belgrave Hall area is a conservation area.
When walking along Belgrave Road be sure to greet the
locals with the phrase "Kem Cho"
Belgrave has been taken over by the Asian community
situated in Hamilton, Rushey Mead, Highfields and
consists largely of immigrants from India, Pakistan and
Bangladesh.
Many of the Asian community have proven to be beneficial
in our environment, culture and business industry.
Many leading and influential businessmen have changed
the face of the Belgrave Society such as Don Kotak (
Owner of the Top 100 Listened To 'Sabras "1260" Radio' )
Sabras Radio
Other businessmen such as Dinesh Kotecha ( Owner of
Surin Fashions LTD. ) have changed the face of Melton
Road. He is known as " The Helping Hand " because he has
helped many people over the years of his employment.
