Tyre price war intensifies

11 January 2006 – The tyre price war that was started by the UK’s leading online tyre retailer, etyres, has intensified.

In October etyres became the first national tyre retailer to publish a price check of tyre depot prices. This highlighted savings of up to 40%, comparing etyres with Kwik-Fit, ATS, Hi-Q and National Tyres (see Price Check on www.etyres.co.uk).

Now etyres has extended the price war to include the other on-line tyre retailers. And although savings are less dramatic, etyres is still, as they claim, “miles cheaper.”

etyres is able to slash costs because it operates a completely different business model. Gone are expensive tyre depots, with all the associated cost of rent, rates, heating and security. These have been replaced by a fleet of mobile tyre fitting vans equipped with state of the art tyre changing and wheel balancing machines. Massive advertising costs have been replaced by selling online.

There is no doubt that the tyre buying UK motorist has been seriously overcharged for years. Now the Internet has spawned companies that operate with much lower overheads and prices are being slashed. For once, and it’s a welcome change, the motorist is the winner.  www.etyres.co.uk 0800 028 9000
