etyres reaches finals for prestigious
environmental award
28 February 2006 – EAST Journal recently announced the
shortlisted entries for the 2005 Environmental and
Sustainable Technology (EAST) Awards, and etyres is one
of the few to make it to the final round of judging. The
awards recognise industry providers of products and
services that make a positive green contribution and
reduce the environmental impact of their businesses.
Winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner Awards
presentation ceremony in London on 7 April.
etyres has been shortlisted because of its established
and sustainable Green Policy. The company uses mobile
tyre fitting vans and utilises journey plans to reduce
time on the road. One van travelling a planned route
produces far less pollution than multiple cars driving
to a central depot, and the use of LPG in the newer vans
further compounds the environmental savings. etyres also
ensures that tyre wear warrants a change before fitting
a new tyre. This helps reduce the total amount of tyre
waste. Old tyres are recycled by approved scrap tyre
collection contractors.
Much of the company’s business is conducted online,
reducing paper waste. On average, 95% of invoices are
sent out via e-mail rather than paper mail.
etyres maintains this environmental focus whilst
emphasising customer satisfaction. The company’s Green
Policy enables etyres to keep prices much lower than
traditional depots because of low overhead costs
associated with the procedures.
