Yokohama has chosen Europe as the first international market to roll its new Geolander SUV range of 4×4 tyres into.
The energy efficiency-themed tyres went on sale in Japan this month and following their arrival in Europe in March they will be gradually launched in other global markets.
Yokohama markets the Geolander SUV to drivers of vehicles designed for on-road driving, including urban crossover vehicles and medium- and small-size 4x4s – a vehicle category gaining popularity around the globe, according to Tyres and Accessories.
This is the first time the Japanese tyre maker has employed its BluEarth concept of “being human and socially friendly combined with improvements to environmental performance” in a 4×4 tyre.
Yokohama reports that adopting the compounding and design technologies used in its BluEarth passenger car tyre lines has resulted in a tyre that offers lower fuel consumption – while fully maintaining the utility performance expected from a 4×4 tyre on various road surfaces.
The Geolander SUV will be available in 27 sizes from 245/50R20 102V to 205/70R15 96H.
