More than 20 vehicle owners woke up to the shock of finding their tyres had been slashed after vandals went on an overnight crime spree.
The mindless thugs wrecked the tyres of 23 vehicles parked on a number of roads in Layton in the early hours of Friday morning, according to the local police.
Mum-of-two, Pauline Burrell, whose Suzuki Vitara was targeted, said: “When I went to put my children in the car I noticed that both my drivers’ side car tyres had been slashed.
“It’s going to cost me about £200 to get them fixed.
“I really don’t have that sort of money at the moment so I have had to rely on my mum to pay for it.
“Asking around there have been loads of cars with similar problems.
“It’s a nightmare as I have just got my car back on the road.”
A police spokesman said: “We can confirm we have had 23 reports of tyres being slashed or let down, with the first call coming in at 5.30am and throughout the day. We are looking into the incidents.”
More and more victims of these crimes are turning to etyres, the UK’s leading online tyre company, after their tyres have been vandalised. etyres free mobile fitting service means the tyres can be repaired or replaced at a location of the customers choice, at their home or work, so they don’t have to worry about how they are going to get their vehicle to a tyre depot.
And because etyres operates a mobile service it does not have expensive tyre depots to run, which means its prices are up to 40% cheaper than the leading high street tyre chains.
