Vandals slashed and pierced the tyres of dozens of cars during a night time rampage.
Residents claim it is the second night in a row that their vehicles had been targeted in Ringmer, Sussex.
As well as the cost and frustration involved in replacing the tyres, car owners say the damage, inflicted on Wednesday and Thursday night could cause a serious accident.
One man’s tyre blew-out when he was doing 70mph on the motorway on Thursday, causing him to swerve across the lane next to him, according to a report in the Argus newspaper.
The 35-year-old driver said: “We pulled over and changed the tyre and went on out way but it was a bit of a shock.
“Then I got a phone call from my wife who said to check the other tyres because other cars in the road where we live had their tyres slashed too.”
District Commander Chief Inspector Natalie Carron, of Sussex Police, said: “Anyone with information should call 0845 6070999.”
