Tyres Safety Month Gears Up to Hit the Road
The leading UK tyres safety organisation is gearing up for its annual awareness month later this year.
TyreSafe is holding Tyre Safety Month, a nationwide campaign to help raise awareness of the importance of driving on safe and legal tyres in October.
According to its website: “Many motorists may not realise that they are putting their safety at risk by not replacing tyres when the tread falls below the legal minimum of 1.6mm.
“Aside from heavy fines and penalty points, driving on tyres with illegal tread depth poses a significant threat to driver and passenger safety, as the tyre tread is no longer able to expel road surface water.
“This causes braking distances to increase substantially on wet roads, which may result in serious or even fatal accidents.”
With the onset of the recession, many motorists are tempted to put off replacing worn, damaged or old tyres, because of the cost.
However, by using etyres, the UKs leading online tyres retailer, they can save up to 40% on prices charged by traditional high street tyre depots.
This is because etyres operates a convenient mobile tyre fitting service across the UK and because overheads are low, so are the prices.
