With Earth Day 2009 just round the corner it’s time to start thinking how you can do your bit – and turning your attention to your tyres is a good start.
Mark the date, Wednesday 22nd April, in your calendar and get set to check the air in your tyres to save money, fuel and the planet.
We should check our tyres pressure once every couple of weeks, but for those who don’t always get round to it, now’s the time to make a big effort.
Earth Day is a good time to remind ourselves that properly inflated tyres improve safety while reducing emissions and saving us money at the pumps.
It also means our tyres won’t wear out as quickly – and that means less tyres heading for landfill.
But most importantly, vehicle handling can be seriously affected by improperly inflated tyres.
If you’re unsure what the proper tyres pressure is for your vehicle, check the manufacturers handbook or inside the door jam for the correct level.
