Tyres Firms Receive Top European Awards

Continental was voted the world’s best tyres brand in a readers poll, while its ContiPremiumContact 2 won the top prize in the German motoring magazine ‘Auto Zeitung’.
The editorial team used an Opel Corsa to test 195/60 R 15 size tyres for compact cars and they were most impressed by the balancing performance on both wet and dry roads of the ContiPremiumContact 2, which beat eight other competitors in the test.
In a separate category, 22,000 of the magazine’s readers picked Continental over 22 rivals from Europe, the USA, Japan and Korea to take home the best tyre company award.
Continental, the European market leader, was delighted to have held on to its No. 1 position from last year.
French tyre makers Michelin were also awarded a ‘highly recommendable’ rating for its Energy Saver and Primacy HP tyres by the German motorist’s association ADAC and its Austrian and Swiss counterparts.
Both tyres, representing 85% of the summer passenger car tyres produced by the Michelin Group, received this highest rating in a comparative evaluation of 18 different 185/60 R 14 H tyres and nineteen 205/55 R 16 W tyres.
