Korean tyres firm Hankook has upped its financial involvement with Northampton Saints Rugby Club by joining its group of elite sponsors.
Hankook, one of the world’s leading tyres manufacturers, has already enjoyed a highly visible presence at Franklin’s Garden’s since January when they became one of the stadium’s biggest advertisers.
Now the new sponsorship tie-up means their logo will appear on all the Saints’ playing shirts for the next three years.
It’s a welcome boost for any team to find sponsors who are willing to invest in their sport. Manchester United are desperately hunting for a new partner to take over from the American insurance giant AIG who have gone into financial meltdown.
But the new sponsorship deal is an ideal partnership because Hankook’s UK headquarters are in Daventry, Northamptonshire, where it employs 50 people.
Allan Robson, the Saints chief executive, said: “Hankook is a major international company with a local base in Northamptonshire and I, along with everyone at the Saints, am thrilled that they have shown a confidence in our future by increasing their commitment to becoming an elite sponsor.
“Over the past few months we have built up an excellent relationship with Hankook and I am confident that this will develop even further during the next three years into a partnership that will benefit Hankook, the club and our supporters.”
