Admittedly parts of the UK have been subjected to a fair bit of rain over the last few days, but it’s nothing compared to the downpours experienced in countries like India.

There, the countries leading tyres manufacturer has kicked off a “Safe Drive” public awareness initiative to help motorists cope with the weather.

Apollo tyres will ensure a quarter of a million information booklets will be handed out to the public as part of the campaign.

With heavy rains crippling normal life of Mumbai citizens, employees of Apollo Tyres drenched in rainwater, were busy in the Juhu and Andheri areas of Western Mumbai handing out the Safe Drive Handbook on Disaster Management, according to industry magazine Tyres and Accessories.

The booklet contains safety tips and useful numbers, to assist citizens of Mumbai in taking precautions to ensure a safe monsoon.

This activity will continue until 14 July 2009, at various traffic intersections and other important locations.
