To many, worn out tyres are an eyesore and environmental hazard – but to the more creative they can be transformed into a stunning piece of interior design that could grace the pages of a glossy magazine.
We stumbled across an eye-catching article in the Hindustan Times under the headline “5 funky DIY tips to recycle old tyres” and were amazed by how discarded old tyres have been transformed into ‘statement decor pieces’.
According to the writer, Aditi Caroli: “From peppy planters to a quirky table, options abound for those who want to recycle old tyres. Remember, you would also be doing your bit for the environment by re-using old tyres as they are one of the largest and the most difficult to manage waste items.”
Our favourite has to be the table, which utilises just two tyres, painted and stacked together with a round sheet of glass perched on top, but we also like the doggy bed and the funky red seat.
You might want to bear this in mind the next time you have new tyres fitted to your vehicle and ask your etyres fitter if he can leave your old tyres with you – otherwise our policy is always to take them away and have your old tyres recycled in a more traditional, but equally environmentally friendly way.
