Bitterly cold weather and snow showers are forecast for much of the UK this week and just as you wouldn’t go out without a coat, vehicle owners should make sure their vehicle is properly attired – that means their tyres are in good shape.
Tyres are your cars only point of contact with the road and when it’s slippery or slushy they need to be properly inflated with the right amount of grip/tread to keep you safe.
Manufacturers list the correct tyre pressure for each vehicle in its owners handbook and the minimum tread depth for tyres is 1.6mm, however, the AA recommend changing tyres when they reach 2mm, especially during winter months when the weather conditions can be hazardous. Worn tyres are dangerous as the car loses its grip on the road.
