Skiers to Cut Accident Risk by Driving Abroad on Safe Tyres
If you are driving to Europe on a skiing holiday you can significantly reduce the risk of an accident by making sure your tyres are safe to tackle sub-zero weather conditions.
First, remember to check the tyres pressure when the car is fully laden to take into account the extra luggage, ski equipment and passengers you will be carrying on your journey.
Secondly, also make sure your tyres have plenty of grip. The minimum legal tyre tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm, but it is worth changing them at 3mm to give you optimum grip and peace of mind.
Finally, you must also check out the legal requirements of the country you are visiting – or those you are driving through – to make sure your tyres comply with their laws.
In some countries winter tyres are compulsory at certain times of the year. Go to our www.etyres.co.uk/winter-tyres-law information guide to find out more about tyre laws abroad.
