Who says tyres are boring – not if Bridgestone have their way!
The Japanese tyres manufacturer looks like it might be gearing up to launch customised tyres, but they are not to motoring expert Quentin Willson’s taste.
Under the headline “Don’t buy dire tyres”, he told his Sunday Mirror column readers today: “You may not want these, but I’ll tell you anyway.
“Bridgestone could soon launch a patterned tyre, so you can “fully customise your sidewalls”.
“Tartan, houndstooth check, herringbone or pinstripe, Sir? Yuck!”
The tyres, which are on display at the 2012 Geneva International Motor Show, are the result of a new printing technology that lets drivers add custom artwork and patterns to the sides of their tyres.
So, tasteful or tacky? Take a look and judge for yourself by checking out Quentin’s page at http://www.mirror.co.uk/authors/quentin-wilson/tartan-and-houndstooth-check-tyres-fashionable-757734
Incidentally, Quentin also gives an update on how National FairFuel Day went in his column – it’s essential Sunday reading for us!
