Timberland have launched their new Mountain Athletics range, stylish trail running shoes and mids, featuring top technology and recycled car tyres for soles.
The new trail shoes are ideal for adventure racing and trailing running, but Timberland are kicking up a fuss about their environmental credentials – thanks to the recycled tyres.
The US company has teamed up with Green Rubber Inc to make the outsole from a blend of 50% green rubber and 50% virgin rubber compound.
The green rubber is made out at least 85% recycled rubber, reducing the number of old tyres cluttering up the planet.
The shoes themselves get all the high tech credentials you’d expect from a major brand with all sorts of systemic labels duly applied.
And with stuff like Independent Suspension Network system, Stability Control Frame and so on, you can rest assured you’ll be getting industry standard chassis enginering designed to give decent stability and support.
Underfoot mid-soles are multi-density with a head to toe flex groove claimed to allow ‘medial and lateral sole sections to react independently on varying trail conditions’.
