Nexen tyres gaining traction with motorists

When it comes to buying new tyres, some motorists are influenced by price, for others performance is a key factor, while many are happy to remain loyal to the current brand fitted to their vehicle and opt to swap like-for-like, as long as they are satisfied with it!

The latter accounts for a large percentage of tyre buyers and is therefore the reason why it is so important for tyre manufacturers to ensure that their tyres are fitted as Original Equipment (OE) in order to almost guarantee sales in the replacement tyre sector.

With this in mind, it is interesting to learn which tyre manufacturers come out tops in the customer satisfaction stakes. While, there are no recent statistics that apply to the UK market, in the US, 37 per cent of owners who replaced two or more tyres on their vehicle selected the same tyre brand that was fitted on their new vehicle when they first drove it off the dealership lot, according to the JD Power 2017 US Original Equipment Tyre Customer Satisfaction Study.

Michelin ranks highest in all four segments (luxury, passenger car, performance sport and truck/utility), while other premium brands, including Goodyear, Bridgestone and Pirelli performed well in the different categories.

However, it is interesting to note that the mid-range brand Nexen, a firm favourite with etyres customers, is rated fourth in the popular passenger car segment with a 689 point rating, not far behind Michelin with 743, Pirelli on 710 and Goodyear’s respectable 702. All four brands are comfortably positioned above the segment average of 684 out of 1000.

The South Korean tyre giant achieved the status for the second consecutive year and believes the ranking confirms consistent consumer satisfaction with its products as it continues to make inroads with customers around the world.

It might come as a surprise to some motorists, that while Nexen has provided tyres for OE fitments on Volkswagen, Renault and Fiat Chrysler vehicles, it also supplies Porsche.

Nexen credits its popularity with its drive to continuously investment in R&D, and is spreading brand awareness in the UK partly on the back of its sponsorship of Manchester City FC.
