As the temperature drops the competition rises between rival tyre companies keen to persuade motorists who are considering investing in winter tyres to fit their options.

Michelin didn’t hide behind false modesty when it pitched its latest winter tyre offering, the Alpin 5, in the Daily Telegraph motoring section recently. It claimed: “Michelin – the company that gave us the modern radial, the definitive culinary guide and, of course, the legendary Michelin man – makes tyres for everything from lightweight racing bikes to earthmovers.

“Chosen as standard by manufacturers such as BMW, Porsche and Mercedes, Michelin’s car tyres include the high performance Pilot Sport range, multi-talented Primacy 3 and Michelin Energy E-V, which offers a 20 per cent reduction in rolling resistance to help eke the most out of an electric car’s precious battery range. And now there is Michelin’s latest winter offering, the superb Alpin 5.

“If it rolls, Michelin has it covered.”
