While it is a good idea to eke out maximum value for money from most everyday items, like a sweater or a jar of jam, when it comes to tyres it is imperative you know when enough is enough.

Bald tyre

Take this tyre which was recently replaced on a lovely red Mini by our etyres Carlisle team – it was smoother than butter and twice as slippery on the roads!

The fact is, your tyres may still continue to roll when they are worn down below the legal minimum tread depth limit of 1.6mm, but it is simply not safe to drive on them.

That is why we constantly remind our etyres customers to regularly check their tyres and ensure that they have at least the minimum tread depth of 1.6mm across the central three quarters and around the entire circumference. It is so easy to do and will only take a matter of a couple of minutes – if that – to check all four tyres. If you are not sure how to check your tread depths, click here and watch our short video featuring Vicki Butler Henderson as she demonstrates what to do.

Although we have had a pretty mild winter in many parts of the UK, we are not out of the woods yet. The winter months could still serve up some harsh weather conditions and so if you haven’t done so recently, now is a good time to check your tyres.
