Look After Your Car and Tyres for Safer Winter Motoring
Winter’s here and motoring organisations are already noticing increased demand for jump starts, tyres changes and vehicle recovery.
Batteries can lose their charge and tyres can deflate anytime vehicles are left inactive for long periods of time.
So if you want to avoid motoring misery follow these simple steps to keep your car safe and sound, especially if it hasn’t been driven for a few days.
1. If you have more than one vehicle, periodically rotate the vehicle you drive to keep batteries charged, tyres properly inflated and all systems running smoothly.
2. Check tyre pressure. Tyre pressure can deflate as vehicles sit in driveways.
3. Keep an eye on fluid levels. Check antifreeze, washer fluid and oil over long weekends when vehicles are idle.
4. Keep fuel tanks at least half full at all times. Your tank should be kept below a half-tank to avoid getting stuck on the side of the road during inclement weather.
