Iconic Tyres Calendar that WON’T Grace Garage Walls
It’s the annual event that gets the tyres industry in a spin – the launch of the Pirelli calendar!
The 2010 calendar, which features some of the most beautiful women in the world cavorting on location in Brazil – even using tyres and a rooster as props – was unveiled in London yesterday.
The 2010 Pirelli Calendar, now in its 37th edition, was shot by American photographer Terry Richardson, known for his outrageous and provocative approach.
The 30 images were billed as “a return to the natural, authentic atmospheres and images of the 1960s and 1970s” where “naturalness prevails over technique”.
“My technique is the absence of technique,” said Mr. Richardson, who shoots with only a camera and without assistants. “The lens is my eye, my charisma, my ability to capture moments of truth, whatever they may be, picture angles, use of colour, light, scenery—these have always been the essential aspects of my photographic art.”
Meanwhile, British model Daisy Lowe, who appears in the calender, simply told reporters: “It was quite freeing, being able to be naked for a week.”
Due to the exclusivity to the calendar it does not go on public sale and is only gifted to special clients and customers, so it’s one raunchy calendar you won’t be seeing on garage walls next year!
