More and more UK motorists are opting to fit winter tyres to their cars because it is becoming widely recognised that they can make a huge difference through the cold months, while others are fitting all-season car tyres to see them through the entire year.
Just recently a driver from Kidderminster asked the Telegraph Motoring’s popular agony uncle, Honest John what she should do to stop her vehicle skidding in icy conditions. She wrote: “I used to have an R-reg Ford Mondeo that was an absolute snowplough in the winter. Last Christmas my boyfriend gave me his 2005 Focus, which is bad to drive in the snow, skidding everywhere. Should I change the wheels or just have winter tyres put on?”
To which Honest John replied: “That Mondeo was probably on 14in wheels with deep-profile tyres. I guess the Focus has taller wheels with low-profile tyres. The answer is to switch to 15in or 16in wheels, fit a set of four Goodyear Vector 4Seasons tyres and leave them on throughout the year.”
All-season car tyres aim to get motorists through the entire year without the need to switch to winter tyres for the colder months and then back to summer tyres for the warmer ones. All-season car tyres have a tread pattern that is more heavily siped than a summer pattern but not as heavily siped as winter tyres.
etyres supply and fit a wide range of car tyres to suit all budgets, including winter tyres and all-season tyres. etyres customers benefit from its highly competitive prices offered on all its car tyres and its mobile service which means they can have their new tyres fitted at their home or work.
