Hankook is 6th Largest Tyres Manufacturer in Europe

Hankook is emerging as a one of the leading players in the global tyres industry, according to the its latest statistics.

The South Korean company has calculated it is now the seventh largest tyres manufacturer in the world and the sixth largest in Europe in terms of unit sales.

Hankook is growing in stature and gaining ground on its competitors. In Europe the company’s calculations give it a 7 per cent share of the market and put it within reach of Pirelli, who are in fifth place with 8 per cent.

And Tyres and Accessories, a leading tyre industry publication, believes Hankook is a force to be reckoned with.

“When you consider the rapid growth rates Hankook’s sales are currently experiencing”, the magazine reported, “the company’s arguably ambitious calculations deserve further attention.

“Take a closer look at the UK tyre market and you can see that Hankook is experiencing the same growth trend here too; only faster.

“Speaking conservatively, Hankook UK representatives told T&A that passenger car sales shot up more than 10 per cent this year, despite the well-reported state of the market as a whole.

“Future OE pull-through is likely to support continued sales in the UK, through two routes – well known European brands such as the Audi A3 and A6 fitments Hankook recently won; and an increasing share of Korean carmakers such as Hyundai and Kia, which thanks to the scrappage scheme are becoming relatively popular in the UK.”
