Goodyear has scooped a prestigious technology award for its innovative UltraGrip Ice+ winter tyres.
The Tyre Technology of the Year Award is particularly pertinent as it has been announced following two successive harsh winters which have led to a massive rise in levels of public interest for winter tyres.
Marc Junio, general director of the Goodyear Innovation Center Luxembourg, where the tyre was designed, said: “This award acknowledges the outstanding performance of the UltraGrip Ice+ tyre.
“We are delighted with these outstanding test results, which confirm our industry-leading role of top-performing winter tyres. Our team can be proud of this achievement and this award will further boost the motivation and innovative spirit of our development teams.”
The Goodyear UltraGrip Ice+ studless ice tyre has been engineered to master some of the world’s most challenging roads, including freezing Nordic winter roads. It features, among other technologies, ActiveGrip Technology, which combines a dual cap compound with hybrid sipes.
