Goodyear has scooped a top environmental innovation award with its EfficientGrip tyres.
The eco-friendly EfficientGrip tyres were bestowed with the The Green Innovation Award by GreenWorks, a Luxembourg platform dedicated to companies sensitive to environmental impact and initiatives that favour sustainable development.
Marc Junio, general director of the Goodyear Innovation Centre, Luxemburg (GICL), said: “This award values all the efforts the Goodyear Innovation Centre, Luxemburg (GICL) team has made to reduce the CO2 footprint with innovative technologies applied not only to the EfficientGrip tyre, but to all our newly developed tyres,.
“Such innovative technologies are required in light of the upcoming EU regulations, which require tyre labelling containing fuel efficiency, noise and wet performance information as of 2012.”
A second Goodyear Innovations product was also recognised by GreenWorks, according to the report in Tyres and Accessories.
The recently introduced Marathon LHT II commercial vehicle tyre was ranked second in the category of the Green Product Awards.
Earlier this year Goodyear celebrated another prestigious technology honour when the innovative UltraGrip Ice+ winter tyres, which were also designed at the Centre, received the Tyre Technology of the Year Award.
