Hurtling down mud slides, wading through ponds and clambering over giant hay stacks – there must be must be easier ways to raise money for charity, but there can’t be many that are more fun than the 5km Insane Terrain Mud and Obstacle run!

But this is just the sort of fund raising event we would expect our etyres Head Office team to throw themselves into for a great cause that has touched our national sales office team in a very personal way.

Dean is leading his four-strong team, including Alex, Tom and Chris, to raise cash for Cam Sight, a Cambridge-based charity which has supported his young son Ryan since he was five months old.

Now four-years-old, Ryan was diagnosed with Ocular Albinism and associated Nystagmum at just 10 weeks of age. It is a condition which significantly reduces both his distance and near vision and means he is severely sight impaired and finds it difficult to focus and locate objects around him.

The support Ryan and his family receive from Cam Sight allows him the chance to play and interact with children that have similar conditions and his parents the chance to meet other families and benefit from mutual support and advice.

Dean, who is already training with Chris in the gym for the event which takes place on 27 September, said: “I have met some amazing parents through Cam Sight, who have helped us through the harder days.

“I am hugely grateful to both Helen and Paula Bird from Cam Sight, without their help and support our family would still be struggling, they have supplied with Ryan with many canes, which is above and beyond what we expected.

“I am so grateful to Alex, Tom and Chris for teaming up with me to take part in run and can’t thank everyone enough for supporting us, including our friends and family and the many etyres Franchise Owners, who have pledged their money and sent us their best wishes.”

Dean and his team are already well on their way to reaching their £500 fund raising target and welcome all support for their cause, which can be made by pledging a donation on the JustGiving website at
