Congratulations to the staff at Cooper tyres UK headquarters in Melksham who raised more than £4,000 for the Help for Heroes charity.

A raffle organised by Human Resources officer Steve Forbes and Unite rep Steve Saunders, drummed up £2,052.03 for the armed forces charity.

But the tyres company matched the amount and doubled the donation to £4,104.06.

An impressive total of 66 raffle prizes, including a mountain bike, four large hampers and a plasma TV, were donated by the tyres company, the union and company suppliers.

Steve Saunders said, “Everybody has come together to make this happen, the draw was an outstanding success, and we raised far more money than we ever anticipated for this very worthy cause.

” I just want to thank everyone for their involvement, especially the ladies in the canteen for their tremendous ticket sales.”

Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 to help wounded servicemen and women returning from Britain’s current conflicts.
