Continental has underlined its market leadership in European car tyres with the announcement that it has received a ‘whole raft of approvals from Audi’ who will be using its car tyres for many of its vehicles.
The car tyres from the ContiSportContact 5 series are approved for the Audi A3 as well as for the automaker’s flagship model, the A8.
Moving forward, Audi will in future also be equipping its A6, A6 Allroad, A7 and RS 6 Quattro models with the ContiSportContact 5 P car tyres.
A total of five sizes of car tyres have been released for 19 to 21inch rims. Audi will be fitting the Continental models ex-works, and the tyres with the special “AO” (Audi Original Parts) mark can be ordered by owners. Tyres for Audi’s RS models are marked “R01”.
Audi also approved the ContiSportContact 5 P in sizes 255/40 R 19, 235/35 R 19 and 285/30 R 21 for the A6, A7 and Audi Quattro RS6. The ContiSportContact 5 is now an approved first-fit tyre in sizes 255/45 R 19 and 255/40 R 20 for the Audi A8 and the Audi A6 Allroad. Both car tyres are specially designed for use on dynamic and powerful cars.
According to Continental, these OEM approvals further underline its market leadership in European original equipment car tyres.
In recent years, the Hanover-based tyre manufacturer has regularly cornered over 30 percent of this market and is looking to defend its leading position in the future.
Along with its two tyre series for performance cars, Continental also manufactures car tyres for all other vehicle segments, including models with low rolling resistance and special tyres for electric cars and hybrid vehicles.
