Continental and Goodyear awarded coveted Which? Best Buy status for their premium car tyres

Two premium tyres manufactures, Continental and Goodyear, are delighted to have been awarded coveted Best Buy awards in the latest car tyres tests by Which?

The Which? Best Buy endorsements reveal the must-have car tyres across popular sizes and are seen as an important indicator for consumers looking to choose the best car tyres available.

Continental garnered praise for its ContiPremiumContact 5 and ContiSportContact 5 in two car tyres sizes.

The ContiSportContact 5 in tyre size 225/45 R17 W/Y, popular on models such as the BMW 3 Series, Ford Focus and VW Touran, achieved an overall rating of 69%. Which? commented: ing: “The Continental is best overall for braking, traction and handling on wet roads, also proving very good on dry tarmac.”

Top honours were also bestowed on another one of the premium car tyres in its wide range, the ContiPremiumContact 5, which was awarded Best Buy status for one of the most popular supermini sizes in the market. The 185/60 R15H car tyres commonly fitted to vehicles such as the MINI, Peugeot 208 and VW Polo.

The ContiPremiumContact 5 beat off competition from 17 other car tyres in this size from different brands to take top spot with an overall rating of 69%. Which? said: “The Continental is sure-footed on wet roads and low rolling resistance means good fuel economy.”

Peter Robb, brand manager for Continental tyres, said the awards were “another great endorsement” for its premium car tyres.

He added: “Both the ContiPremiumContact 5 and ContiSportContact 5 deliver outstanding performance and give motorists greater safety when it is most needed.”

Goodyear was also awarded Best Buy status for two of its car tyres.

Its Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, tested in the 225/45 R17 car tyres range, delivered “impressive performance in fuel economy and wear rate”, according to Which?

While its EfficientGrip Performance is said to “live up to its name” in the areas of fuel consumption, wet road grip and dry grip in the 185/60 R15 car tyres category.

Michelle Fisher, Goodyear tyres brand manager, said: “To walk away with two Which? Best Buy awards really shows the top performance of our tyres.”
