Continental tyres has won the coveted Auto Express Ultimate tyre test 2015 award, cementing the reputation of its ContiSportContact 5 tyre.
The UK’s top selling car magazine headed to Texas to evaluate 11 European market summer tyres, in size 225/45R17. They were tested against ten criteria, including dry handling, dry braking, wet handling, wet braking, rolling resistance and comfort.
According to Continental tyres: “For many years the Auto Express summer tyre test has been the benchmark for performance, celebrating the best of the best in the summer tyre market.
“The awards highlight exceptional performance, quality, safety, desirability and value. They are seen within the motoring industry as a stamp of approval that offers motoring enthusiasts confidence when looking for their next summer tyre purchase.”
Auto Express concluded: “Rarely do we see such a dominant performance in our tests, but it was clear as soon as we started compiling the results that Continental was going to retain its 17-inch title. Four wins and three runner-up spots left little doubt and gave the ContiSportContact 5 a bigger margin of victory than in the close-run 2013 test.”
Scott Benbow, Product Marketing Manager at Continental, commented: “We are delighted to have been commended by Auto Express yet again in the latest summer tyre test. The ContiSportContact 5 has taken the summer market by storm, with multiple tyre test wins since its launch, reiterating our leading position for safety.”
With the ContiSportContact 5, Continental’s engineers have developed a tyre which is equally suitable for performance cars & SUVs and represents a significant progression on the successful ContiSportContact 3.
With Shorter braking distances in all weather conditions, excellent road grip and safety when cornering and reduced fuel consumption, The ContiSportContact 5 is available in a range of sizes from 17 inch upwards for cars and 18 inch upwards for SUV.
