Recent research has revealed that a worrying number of British motorists are incapable of carrying out even the simplest maintenance tasks. Unbelievably, 40 percent of motorists are not able to check coolant levels. One fifth of motorists cannot check their oil, and a similar number are incapable of checking their tyres. Twenty one percent of motorists don’t know how to top up the screen washer on their vehicles, and 8 percent don’t even know how to open the bonnet on their car.
According to the survey 40 percent of motorists admit that their car maintenance abilities are below acceptable levels. It seems that motorists are relying on the belief that modern cars don’t need to be maintained as much as their predecessors.
