Everyone knows the Scots are renowned for their money sense – and they are being pointed in our direction when it comes to saving cash on new tyres.
In an excellent, well-researched article which appears in the Scotsman about beating the credit crunch, readers are advised how to put the brakes on motoring bills.
Tyres, fuel and insurance can all be targeted to save money, according to the report by Teresa Hunter.
Her 50 point plan includes four ways to bet big bills. They are:
· Change to a smaller car to cut insurance and petrol bills
· To reduce insurance, restrict drivers, increase excess and limit mileage
· Find the cheapest petrol at www.petrolprices.com and tyres at www.etyres.co.uk.
· Shift through the gears quickly, as driving at lower revs saves fuel, as does allowing the car to slow naturally rather than braking. Driving with one tyre under-inflated costs 8% more in petrol.
Etyres prices are up to 40% cheaper than high street depots because our mobile fitting service means we don’t have expensive garages to run, so our overheads are low and we pass these savings on to customers in the form of cheaper prices.
