A little tip for anyone who wants to get the nitty-gritty on their new tyres – a initiative has been launched offering comparison data to help you choose more economical and safer tyres.
It’s available for free from the Campaign for Better Tyres website and the data, which was provided by the Government, includes information on the energy efficiency (rolling resistance), noise and safety (wet grip) of tyres currently on sale in Europe.
It has been organised into four lists – summer passenger car tyres, winter passenger car tyres, all season passenger car tyres and summer van tyres.
The lists have been translated into English and are available to download for free from the Campaign for Better Tyres website at http://www.bettertyres.org.uk/why-better-tyres/buying-better-tyres
The tyre tests were commissioned by the Dutch Government as part of a national campaign ahead of new EU tyre legislation due to be introduced in 2012.
The legislation will set stricter standards for tyres on energy efficiency, noise and safety.
