Bridgestone tyres spoke directly to 4000 motorists across the UK in its first “Talk Back” survey, creating a light-hearted snapshot of motoring today.
The Japanese tyres manufacturer carried out the study during what it describes as “one of the most interesting periods of change for the motoring industry with rising oil prices driving up the cost of fuel, Milliband’s stringent targets for cutting UK carbon emissions and the global recession hitting the automotive sector where it hurts”.
These are some of its findings:
* 59% admit the thing we love most about motoring is a clear open road, while 24% revealed it was listening to a favourite son or radio programme
* 72% insist the recession has not reduced their vehicle use
* 55% rate ourselves as courteous drives, with 14% admitting to being selfish on the roads
more than half of us
* 46% of women questioned admit they leave simple car maintenance jobs – like checking tyre pressure and oil and windscreen fluid levels – to their partners.
But the survey’s headline grabbing result was that 33% of those questioned say they would chose Cheryl Cole as their ideal driving companion!
