The Bridgestone Formula One tyres team were “honoured” to receive a visit from Prince Albert of Monaco as they got set for Sunday’s Grand Prix.
The royal visit took place inside the tyres suppliers motorhome and was seen as a nod to acknowledge the role Bridgestone have played in the most famous and prestigious motor race in the world.
Hiroshi Yasukawa, director of Bridgestone Motorsport, said: “It was a great honour to receive Prince Albert at Bridgestone and to earn recognition from His Serene Highness for our association with the Monaco Grand Prix. This is the most important and prestigious motor race in the world.
“It is the jewel in the racing crown seen around the globe by one of the biggest television audiences of the year, and producing the highest return in commercial value of all the races.
“Monaco is the ultimate test of driving skill and one of the biggest tests of our Bridgestone tyres.
“Our continuous association with Monaco has allowed us to name the Bridgestone Bridge and brand the first cover at Ste Devote, together with other turns at this challenging track.
“We have been associated with some great Ferrari and McLaren victories here and this race will continue to be the most important on the calendar for commerce and prestige.”
