Bridgestone is continuing its endeavours to tighten its grip on the “undisputed” No 1 tyres company in the world title by increasing output at its Indian plant.
The Japanese tyres manufacturer has announced a 40% capacity expansion at its production facility in Pithampur, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, according to WheelsUnplugged.com.
Takashi Urano, vice president and senior officer of International Tyre Business Operations of Bridgestone Corporation, said: “India is growing rapidly, and its potential seems to be unlimited.
“Success in India is essential and inevitable for Bridgestone to reach the goal to become undisputed No. 1 tyre and Rubber Company in the world both in name and reality.”
Bridgestone has apparently invested 2.59 billion rupees (£32.32 million) in the expansion programme.
H.Tanigawa, managing director of Bridgestone India Pvt. Ltd, added: “We are going to put more focus on Indian market than ever, and are looking for newer possibilities to grow further.”
The expansion will ramp up the production of tyres and it will in turn increase the total production capacity by around 40 per cent of the current output. This will also generate an additional employment for approximately 300 people.
Bridgestone India Pvt. Ltd started its operations in 1996. In March 1998 with the launch of its manufacturing facility in Kheda, Madhya Pradesh, Bridgestone achieved its objective of running Indian manufactured Bridgestone tyres on Indian roads.
In a short stint of 13 years Bridgestone India Pvt. Ltd is one of the leading tyre companies in both the OEM & replacement market
