Bridgestone has announced its two latest OE contracts with Audi and Nissan.
The Japanese tyres manufacturer will be supplying the Potenza S001 for the new Audi A1 and its Ecopia EP150 tyres for the Nissan LEAF Electric Car.
Audi selected Bridgestone’s new flagship ultra high-performance sport tyre (225/35 R18 87W) for the premium 3-door compact.
It is the fourth fitment contract for Potenza S001 since its launch in February 2010. The tyre has already been chosen for the Audi RS5, Aston Martin Rapide and Ferrari 458 Italia.
Didier Schneider, Vice President Original Equipment of Bridgestone Europe, said: “Bridgestone is proud to have met the demanding performance targets set by Audi. The sharp response and precision of the Potenza S001 complements the sporty characteristics of the Audi A1.”
Bridgestone designed the Potenza S001 to provide maximum sporty performance for top sports cars and high-powered luxury cars. The innovative asymmetric design features stiff ‘high grip’ shoulder blocks enhanced by a lightweight active insert in the bead area, delivering quick-fire response and precise handling.
The company has also won another top OE contract supplying the Nissan LEAF, billed as the world’s first affordable 100% electric car, with its eco-friendly brand, Ecopia.
The Ecopia has has been specially developed to offer lower rolling resistance whilst still maintaining superior performance in all areas, including safety.
Ecopia tyres were first produced in 1991 through the development of tyres for electric vehicles. Since then, Bridgestone has developed a diverse lineup of Ecopia tyres, for passenger cars, van, trucks and buses.
