North Wales beauty spots are being ruined by rogues who are illegally dumping tyres.
Environmental crime experts are hunting a gang who dumped 50 lorry tyres at four beauty spots in North Wales last week.
Environment Agency Wales is appealing for information to help catch the culprits involved in this case of “serial” dumping and to try and trace the origin of the tyres.
Officers investigated and found small numbers of tyres dumped at four separate locations in Gwynedd – three sites at lay-by’s on the A5 between Bethesda and Betws y Coed and one on the A487 near Penrhyndeudraeth.
Environmental Crime experts have found evidence that has led them to believe that the four incidents are linked.
Leading the investigation for Environment Agency Wales, Eryl Lloyd said: “This is a truly beautiful part of the world now being spoiled by someone trying to make a profit out of dumping these tyres. We now believe that these incidents are linked.
“Due to the nature of it, in all probability, it could come from a smaller van, like a transit, as they are having to dump it in batches.”
Those with information are asked to call Environment Agency Wales hotline confidentially on 0800 80 70 60 and ask for Eryl Lloyd.
