The Daily Mail has captured the mood of the nation with its coverage of the UK’s washout summer – running a series of snaps taken by readers sharing their rain-soaked breaks.
Bleak photos of storm-lashed roads, deserted beaches and rain streaming down caravan windows just about sums up the disappointing start of the school summer holidays, with two inches of rain falling in 24 hours and gales of more than 50mph.
There is some good news on the horizon though, because temperatures are set to rise to 26C this weekend!
If you are driving around in your car, either on holiday or out and about with family and friends, we hope your tyres are in good condition this summer, so they can cope with whatever the weather has to throw at them.
Tyres that do not have enough tread you could be in real danger of aquaplaning . The more tread depth you have remaining on your tyres the more water you can disperse, reducing the risk of aquaplaning. If you are not sure how to check your tyre tread depths, click here and watch Vicki Butler Henderson show you how quick and easy it is.
Also, insufficient pressure strongly increases the risk of aquaplaning. If tyre pressures are 30% below that recommended then there is a sharp increase in the risk of aquaplaning.
If you discover you need new tyres, whether you are about to set off on a long journey or are already driving around the UK on your holiday, contact etyres as soon as possible.
