Michelin is delighted to have scooped a Ford World Excellence Award in recognition of its ultra-low rolling resistance tyres fitted on the carmakers Fusion model.
The tyres manufacturer earned the Recognition of Achievement Award, given to suppliers that improve customer satisfaction by providing significant contributions in key areas.
Its ultra-low rolling resistance tyre technology, incorporated into the Energy Saver A/S origianl equipment tyre, allowed Ford to improve rolling resistance by 24% over the traditional fitment.
And they tyres offer fuel efficiency without sacrificing other key performances, according to the car maker.
Michelin is one of 40 global suppliers to receive awards, the highest recognition for Ford’s suppliers worldwide.
John Moloney, vice president of original equipment marketing for Michelin North and South America, said:
“We put a high priority on meeting the needs – and exceeding the expectations of – our customers, and it is wonderful to be recognized by Ford for this achievement.
“In the case of the Ford Fusion, we looked at various materials, construction and manufacturing solutions while continuously pushing the envelope to help Ford achieve its overall fuel-efficiency goals.
“It is projects like this that truly accelerate progress.”
The awards are based on supplier performance in 2009, and recognize suppliers for exceeding standards in quality, cost, delivery and embracing the “ONE Ford” program.
