Mobile tyres firm won’t take taxi drivers for a ride

The extent of the problem has been highlighted by an operation which discovered that nearly one third of older Hackney Carriages operating in Wokingham failed road safety tests for reasons including brakes, steering and tyres.
Figures released by Wokingham Borough Council show there were 119 taxis over five years old out of 380 that failed their six-month road safety tests in the last year - 46 of the for tyre problems.
This is 31 per cent of the taxis tested. Of the taxis under five years old, just six per cent failed to pass the test.
