Check tyres before Easter get-away

Reading: Check tyres before Easter get-awayTweet This: Send Page to Twitter

The Easter holidays are fast approaching and with the coldest winter in 30 years only just behind us it’s a good time to give your car or caravan tyres a thorough check up.

The bitter weather has been hard on tyres over the past few months, especially since it has created thousands of potholes which have wrecked countless tyres and caused serious damage to many vehicles.

So whether you are planning a mini-break, visiting friends or family or heading home from a short holiday this Easter, follow these simple checks to make sure you stay safe on the roads.

Give your tyres a visual once-over, check for signs of wear-and-tear, cracks and bulges. Any of these could lead to a puncture or a blow out at speed.

Make sure the tyre tread is well within the legal limit of 1.6mm, anything less is potentially lethal and remember, the more tread, the better the grip, the safer the car.

And finally, make sure your tyres are properly inflated. If the air pressure is not what the manufacturer recommends (you can find it in the vehicle handbook or in the door jam), you will have less control over the car.

If a tyre needs replacing it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. etyres, the UK’s leading online tyre retailer, operates a mobile fitting service and because it doesn’t have expensive depots to run, overheads are low and savings are passed on to customers in the form of lower prices - up to 40% cheaper than high street depots.
